militairy shortwave communications

I understand some people have some questions about  some militairy shortwave communications.

Also there was a question about the Reach airplanes of the USAF.

Many airplanes of the USAF operate global and the reach is one of them.

A reach callsign is an Cargo airplane from the USAF wich in most cases provides US troops  around the globe.

A Reach airplane can for example be a C-130 / C-141 / C-17 / C-5.

“Many times a day a Reach .... enters dutch airspace (on vhf/uhf Dutch Mil), handed over by London Mil. Inbound beacon Navpi. From there the route proceeds to Milgi (near Roermond),

after Milgi handed over to Dusseldorf radar of Rhein Main inbound Ramstein AB.”

The USAF communnicates around the globe via  HF-GCS stations.

HF-GCS stations operate on "core" frequencies to provide increased "Global" coverage.

The published frequency listing does not reflect complete system frequency

authorizations. These published frequencies will be used for initial

contact, EAM broadcasts, and short term C2 phone patch and message

delivery. Other extended or special services will be moved to each

station’s available "discrete" frequencies. Any and all known discrete

frequencies for these stations have been incorporated below in the HF-GCS

station listings.

Frequency Guide - The frequency guide below is used by units contacting

this net and is designed to optimize their air/ground communications.

Primary HF-GCS Frequencies - 24 hours   8992.0  11175.0

Back up HF-GCS Frequencies - DAY        13200.0 15016.0

Back up HF-GCS Frequencies - NIGHT      4724.0  6739.0

Commonly heard callsign is:

MAINSAIL    Authorized users may contact and request service from Global

HF System stations by using the general net air-ground call sign

"MAINSAIL". Any Global station hearing the call "MAINSAIL" will respond

and provide the requested service.

SKYKING The collective call sign for all Single Integrated Operational
Plan (SIOP) committed aircraft and missile crews. Its meaning is “all
SIOP committed aircraft and missile crews copy the following message.”

SKYBIRD The collective call sign for all U.S. Strategic Command

(USSTRATCOM) command posts, launch control centers, Global HF stations,

Air Traffic Control (ATC) towers on Air Combat Command (ACC)/Air Mobility

Command (AMC) host tenant bases, Single Sideband (SSB) HF radio stations,

and air defense sites in Canada.

DoD (Department of Defense Emergency Action Message (EAM)
Broadcast Time Slots.
These broadcast are commonly heard on HF-GCS primary frequencies (11175 etc)  plus
11244.0 kHz. Please note that not all HF-GCS published frequencies are
active for every EAM broadcast time slot listed below. Also some of the
activity listed below is not on HF-GCS published frequencies, but on
other selected discrete frequencies.
* Note: the past month the EAM’s and SKYKINGS are increased a lot
